Uniform of those who are going in for “Jiyutaido”:
Blue coat (kimono coat)
White pants (kimono pants)

Judging

There’s a center referee.
Besides, 2 judges sit outside the tatami (ring). (Aka – red, Shiro – white). They
note the scores given to them.
2 judges sit at the table of Senior Referee, calculate scores and give it in to the
Chairman of the Board of Judges and to the Senior Referee. Senior Referee
declares the winner fighter ( whose score is high).

Clothing of Judges


Center referee has to wear sleeveless black shirt, black pants and light gym shoes.
Corner judges have to wear black costume, white shirt and red tie. Over the
costume has to be label (or hieroglyph) representing “Jiyutaido”.

Rules of competition

3 rounds (men and women)
Every round 3 minutes (1 round 3 minutes) (18 years and older)
1 minute rest between each round

2 rounds between children and adolescents (9-17 years)
Every round 2 minutes (1 round 2 minutes)
1 minute rest beween each round

Holding (not to let the opponent stand up knocking down and standing over him
for 30 seconds)

Grading

Qoko – 3 points (must point to fighter’s chest with 3 fingers)
Yuko – 5 points (must point to fighter’s face with 5 fingers)
Waza-ari – 7 points (must point to fighter’s chest with open straight hand)
Ippon – full point (must point to fighter’s head with straight hand)

Grading in “S” version
Goko- 3 points

1. To apply a full trick
2. To apply a new trick out of other trick
3. If the opponent tries to escape from fighting for the second time
4. Kicking on the head (full point)
5. To keep holding the opponent standing over him
6. If the opponent gets warning 3 times for passiveness
7. If the opponent still lays down, can’t stand up or doesn’t event attempt to stand up

Yuko – 5 points

2 effective tricks. But the opponent still doesn’t give up (or is unable to complete).
Consecutive attacks, at the same time activity.
To apply a trick and keep holding (for 30 seconds).
Effective kick.
If the opponent get injured, but doesn’t inform.

Waza-ari – 7 points

Effective trick and to keep holding (but is unable to complete)
The opponent can’t control himself and is in the position of knockdown when the
opposite side kick on the head
Informs his injury
Technically got strike (technical knockdown)
Kicking to any part of body and the opponent informs his hurt

Ippon – Full point

Breaking trick (any of them) and the opponent surrender
Choking trick (any of them) and the opponent surrender
Hurting trick (any of them) and the opponent surrender

Distinguishing according to belts in “Jiyutaido”

1 dan red belt] 2 dan red belt] – Senior student (Senpai)

He can teach as an instructor at the gym with the assistant of trainer, at the same time in any place with the permision and approve of Organization (Federation).

White line is sewn around the circular sleeve on the sleeve of waistcoat (on the upper part of kimono) of 1 dan and 2 dan (7 cm wide).

3 dan red belt] 4 dan red belt] – Teacher (Sansei)
The owner of this belt is called teacher. International Jiyutaido Federation allows him to teach in any country.
Yellow line is sewn around the circular sleeve on the sleeve of waistcoat of 3 dan and 4 dan (7cm wide).
5 dan – Master (Shihan) – This teacher is called Master. It shows that the owner of this belt now can take exam till the 1 dan and 2 dan with the permision of Organization (Federation). Taken belts have to be coordinated by International Organization (Federation).

Green line is sewn around the circular sleeve on the sleeve of waistcoat of 5 dan Masters (Shihans) (7cm wide).

6 dan – Shihan (Master) – This name is given to the Master who has been trained more than 15 years and has been exeptional services in the improvement of this sport. The owner of this belt can take exam for 3 dan red belt with the permision of Organization (Federation).
Brown line is sewn around the circular sleeve on the sleeve of waistcoat of 6 dan Shihans (Masters) with the condition of getting the belt from International Organization (Federation) (7cm wide).
7 dan – Shihan range (Master of Masters) – This name is given to the master chosen between other masters ( I mean Chief Master). Every one who is called Chief Master has to have particular role in the development of “Jiyutaido”. He’s also to have a great role in the improvement of this sport at an international level. The Chief Master who is called with this title can take exam till 3 dan red belt in regions (other countires) with the permision of International Jiyutaido Organization (Federation).

Black line is sewn around the circular sleeve on the sleeve of waistcoat of Chief Master (7cm wide).
8 dan – Kancho (Master of Masters), the Founder. Red belt 8 dan. The owner of this belt is called the President of International Jiyutaido Federation.
Other masters can also get 8 dan red belt, but they will be called Chief Master like in the 7 dan.

Red line is sewn around the circular sleeve on the sleeve of waistcoat of the Master of Masters (7cm wide).

Degrees

There are degrees, besides belts in “Jiyutaido”. Degrees are given according to the belts.
For the young: I degree; II degree; III degree For men and women: I degree; II degree III degree; Candidate for Master of Sport; Master of Sport; Master of Sport with International Degree.

Granting degrees in “Jiyutaido”

Master of Sport – To get the 1st-3rd place on World Championship, to get the 1st-3rd place on European Championship and European Cup competitions. Note: With the condition of participation of 16 countries in the competitions and not being less than 12 participants in every weight category.
Candidate for Master of Sport – To get the 1st-3rd place on World Championship (for the 1st place).
Silver and bronze medalists of the World and European Championships (for the 1st place) – Not to be less than 1 dan Black Belt; Champions of Republic – Not to be less than 1 dan black Belt; Medalists of International Tournament being held with the participation of at least 10 countries in addition to being the Champion of Republic – Not to be less than 1 dan Black Belt; 3 times Champions of Republic – Not to be less than 1 dan Black Belt.
I sport degree – With the condition of being the medalists of the World and European Championships (for the 1st place), being the medalists of the competitions of Republic and meeting due sport normatives; II sport degree – With the condition of being the medalists of the competitions of Republic and meeting due sport normatives; III sport degree – With the condition of being the medalists of the competitions of Republic and meeting due sport normatives; Judging and instructor categories according to the mastership degree on the grounds of International norms – These categories are gotten by sitting judging and instructor exams according to the mastership degree.
